Source Photonics expands client-side 40G transceiver range to 40km; launches 10G EPON PR30 symmetric OLT and ONU solutions

In booth 2307 at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference & Exhibition/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC 2012) in Los Angeles (6-8 March), optical communication product maker Source Photonics Inc of Chatsworth, CA, USA is giving a live demonstration of its new 40GBASE-ER4 CFP transceiver module.

Supporting a reach of 40km, the 40GbE transceiver is the latest edition to the firm’s 40G client transceiver module portfolio. Source Photonics has already released the 10km version into mass production.

Both transceivers support multi-rate applications including Ethernet, SONET/SDH and OTU data rates. All pluggable CFP transceivers fully comply with the multi-source agreement (MSA) with support for MDIO interface and integrated digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM).

Source Photonics claims that its vertical integration and high-volume manufacturing capability provides an attractive price roadmap, enabling future cost savings.

Source Photonics has also launched the 10G Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) symmetric OLT (optical line terminal) transceiver in XFP form factor. The module is compliant to the 10/10G Base PR30 optical interface requirements and the INF-8077 MSA. The 10G EPON transceiver provides sufficient downstream and upstream bandwidth to support multi-family residential building (multi-dwelling unit, or MDU) customers. Its real-time signal strength indication and digital diagnostic interface provide the flexible features for module applications, adds the firm.

To complete the end-to-end 10G EPON PON solution, Source Photonics has also launched the 10G EPON symmetric ONU (optical network terminal) in SFP+ form factor. The 10G EPON ONU complies with 10/10G Base PR30 optical interface requirements and the SFP+ MSA. The ONU suits the low-power-consumption requirement of fibe- to-the-business/node/curb (FTTB/N/C) business applications. The firm also offers a complete portfolio of all end-to-end solutions for 10G EPON deployments, including both the 10G EPON symmetric application and asymmetric application solutions.
